“Kongresin e 26-të dhe Asamblenë e Përgjithshme të Unionit të Kristalografisë Ndërkombëtare (IUCr)“
Shoqata e Kristalografisë Shqiptare (AAC) (https://aac-cryst.eu/association/), u përfaqësua në nivelin e delegatit si edhe të pjesëmarrjes me punime në Kongresin e 26-të dhe Asamblenë e Përgjithshme të Unionit të Kristalografisë Ndërkombëtare (IUCr) (https://www.iucr.org/) që u zhvillua në datat 22-29 Gusht 2023 në Melburn të Australisë.
Shoqata si anëtare me të drejta të plota e IUCr që nga Kongresi i 24-të (Gusht 2017,Hyderabad, Indi) përfaqëson Shqipërinë dhe Kosovën së bashku me të drejtë vote në Asamblenë e Përgjithshme të IUCr.
Përfitimet nga pjesëmarrja në këtë Konference ishin zgjerimi i kontakteve, ushtrimi i votës si përfaqësim Shqipëri-Kosove dhe përfaqësimi edhe me anëtarë të shoqatës në komisionet e IUCr. Kështu, Dr. Dritan Siliqi, që përfaqëson njëkohësisht edhe Shoqatën Italiane të Kristalografisë, por është themeluesi dhe Presidenti i Nderit dhe anëtari më aktiv i shoqatës, u zgjodh anëtar i Komisionit të Kristalografisë Njehsuese.
Pjesëmarrja në këtë Konferencë u mundësua falë bashkëpunimit të Universitetit Politeknik të Tiranës (https://upt.edu.al/) dhe Akademisë IVODENT (https://ivodent.edu.al/) si dhe financimit nga fondi i Presidentit të IUCr (https://www.iucr.org/), Akademia IVODENT, dhe dy kompani biznesi shqiptare, bujare në nxitjen e kërkimit shkencor: BNT Electronics (https://bntelectronics.com/) dhe TETRA Smart-Secure-Green (https://www.tetra.al/kreu/).

IUCr-UNESCO Bruker OpenLab Albania

The IUCr-UNESCO Bruker OpenLab Albania was held at Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT) from 30 May to 3 June 2016. More than 90 participants attended the Opening Section on May 30, which was hosted by Prof. Andrea Maliqari, Rector of PUT, and Prof. Asc. Bujar Dida, Local Chair of OpenLab in Albania, in the presence of invited diplomats from the embassies of participated countries of the region in charge with scientific cooperation, delegates from the Ministry of Education and Sport; the University of Tirana, School of Medicine; and the Deans, professors, lecturers and students from public and private universities in Albania. The activity followed the success of the events organized in Albania during the International Year of Crystallography 2014, namely the International Conference “New Frontiers of nanomaterial Technologies for Applications in Biology and Medicine” and the “1st Workshop on Crystallography”, which was held in conjunction with the 20th Congress of Carpathian-Balkan Geological Association.
The OpenLab Albania was hosted by PUT and financed by the IUCr and UNESCO, supported by Bruker that provided the portable Bruker AXS Smart X2S single-crystal diffractometer. The idea of organizing this activity came up to further disseminate and raise awareness about the importance of crystallography, and promote the region of where Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia would benefit from a proper crystallography education at the academic level, especially in the formation of a new class of both academic and governmental institutions, who would take part in policy-making decisions. The new portable Bruker AXS Smart X2S single-crystal diffractometer instrument was installed at Faculty of Mathematical Engineering and Physical Engineering
The ceremony of the opening of OpenLab was organized in main auditor of PUT “Silvano Pedrollio” and was chaired from Prof. Asoc. Dr. Bujar Dida (FIMIF-PUT). The greetings were given by the just elected rector of PUT Prof. Dr. Andrea Maliqari, and the ex-rector Academic Mr. Jorgo Kacani because the activity kicked up just after academic elections of PUT. A special greeting was delivered via internet from Prof. Alessia Bacchi, president of European Crystallographic Association (ECA) and then the Dr. Michele Zema (IUCr) and from Dr. Dritan Siliqi (Institute of Crystallography IC-CNR, Italy) and the representative of Bruker, Dr. Bruce Noll.
The 5-th day program of OpenLab Albania, that started Monday, 30 May 2016 and ended on Friday, 3 June 2016, covered most of the main theoretical issues of crystallography frontiers, organized in the lessons, as well as the tutorials and Bruker Lab sessions, distributed accordingly with the topics of the lessons. The venue of lessons, tutorials and the labs were in the PUT, at Faculty of Mathematical Engineering and Physical Engineering.
